College Information Status

CENTRAL LIBRARY

The K.M.C. Library was established from inception of the college i.e. 1959. The working hours of the college Library is from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. in two shifts in all working days. There is a separate Library building consists of 1200 sq.mts. in three big halls and small halls including one AC Reading Room.

BUDGET

In Kakatiya Medical College, Library the main source of finance is Director of Medical Education, Telangana Hyderabad. The D.M.E, Telangana, Hyd has sanctioned the budget under Head of A/C 160 publications to meet the needs of the college Library.

USERS:

The KMC Library is having about 1000 Under-Graduates From Ist year to Final Year and 300 Post-Graduates, 300 teaching staff are the users of K.M.C Library

The following services are provided in K.M.C Library :

  1. 1. Reference Service: In K.M.C Library separate halls provided for staff, Post Graduates and Under Graduates separately. In each section the latest Textbooks, Reference Books, Recent Advances, Monograms and Annual Reviews are available, Nearly 1104 reference books with the latest editions in different Medical subjects are available in staff and P.G. reference Library. About 414 latest textbooks in different Medical subjects with multiple copies are available in U.G. Reference Library. In addition to the above 70 Indian Journal's and 26 International Journals worth of 22 lakhs are subscribing in every year for reference to Staff, Post graduate and under graduate register.
  2. 2. Lending Service: Each Under Graduate MBBS register may take two books at a time from K.M.C. Library with a period of two weeks. Each Post graduate student may take two books from Library with period of one month.
  3. 3. Facilities for SC/ST register: There is a separate SC/ST Book Banks were available in K.M.C. Library with the aid from Social Welfare Department.
  4. 4. In addition to the above the following services are provided:
    • I. Current awareness services.
    • II. Selective dissemination of Information services (SDI).
    • III. Inter Library Loan service.
    • IV. Reprographic services.
    • V. Internet services.
  5. 5. Collection: In Kakatiya Medical College, the Library is having about 33737 books. Out of the above 8503 are bound volumes of back journal. The K.M.C Library is following Dewey Decimal classification and Dictionary Cataloguing system.
    The College Library has subscribed NTRMEDNET consortium and digital library through which we have access to 541 online journals and 998 Medical E - books online. In addition to the on-line subscription the college library has subscribing 100 print journals (Indian & International)every year regularity.

Departmental Libraries:

All the departments of Kakatiya Medical College are provided with departmental libraries with adequate text and reference books for quick reference for faculty and postgraduates.
